Focus of Lesson
To design a comparative chart based on research and study of the Internet, e.g. Web de Anza, of six outstanding historical characters in the Anza expeditions.
Objectives
To apply principles of research methodology.To practice English as a second language.
To practice the integration of educational technology, e.g. Internet, and curriculum research.
To compliment History curriculum and go beyond normal secondary students' academic program of study.
To offer self-learning experiences for students to achieve a more independent attitude towards learning.
To improve reading habits, develop vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
To encourage students to develop their intrinsic motivation towards learning experiences.
To practice teaching through an holistic perspective.
To introduce students to learning a global environment.
Projected Time Needed
Six weekly class sessions of 45 minutes each.

1. A small group (six) outstanding students of English can be organized to work one hour per week, e.g. using office Internet access, as a group though with individual efforts can be emphasized.2. Students will work with the Internet to study the applications of English language.
3. Students will be provided with individual and group homework tasks to complete their research of six leaders of the Anza expeditions.
4. At the conclusions of this research, students can create a document of the advantages and disadvantages of each of the six reviewed Anza leaders and their relationships to each other in the Anza expedition.

AlFaEs is an educational "institution characterized by its philosophy and methodology focused on the personal growth of the student..."the main institutional mission goal is more related with the personal attitude to life...".AlFaEs want their students to "...discover and look for harmony in their way of thinking, saying, and doing".AlFaEs comprises three schools, with 513 students, and 78 educators located in Hermosillo, Mexico, a city of about one million inhabitants. The school can be found 60 kilometers down the river of San Miguel de Horcasitas, the Presidio from which Juan Bautista de Anza selected 97 colonist families to travel north to settle the Presidio of San Francisco.
