Juan Bautista de Anza, drawn from portrait in oil by Fray Orsi in 1774. Help |
Help for using this site Web de Anza is best viewed with versions
of Navigator 3.0x or Explorer 3.0, or later. The default font size should
be set at Times Roman 12 or 14 (Mac) or sized to "Smaller" (PC).
The buttons across the top of every page allow quick access to the
title pages of the main sections of the site. Each title page contains
a table of contents for the pages in its section similar to the way
some books have sections that begin with a short index of their contents.
From there, you can select what you want to see in that section.
Books are groups of pages that you can browse linearly, from start
to finish, just as you can browse the pages of real books. Once you
are on a book page, there will be a series of arrow buttons that will
take you to the title page, the previous page, or the next page. Some
diaries in the Archives include a link to a calendar index of diary
entries.
The first and possibly the second link you open in a session should be opened in a new window. To do this, simply hold the mouse button on the link until a menu appears and select "Open in New Window" (Mac), or right-click the link and select "Open in New Window" (PC). Web de Anza was designed for a multi-window environment. The optimal
number of windows open on the screen at one time is three: Once three windows are open on the screen, you can determine which
window a given link opens in by dragging the link in one window over
to the target window.
The search function is currently limited to the Anza 1775-76 Diary only. In the near future, you will be able to perform keyword searches of the entire site. |
